humans

Humans live up to 100 years and are the weakest species on the isle. Aside the crew of pirates who recently washed up on the shore, not many other humans inhabit the island. The few who have made a home of the island shared similar fates with the pirates, having been washed into the Crystal Isle by mere accident. Because the mortal world has attempted to expose the species on the island, humans are not trusted easily, although there are good guys who have become friends!

merfolk

Merfolk live up to 1,500 years and are immune to common illnesses and diseases. They live underwater but are able to dwell above ground for long periods of time. No matter their gender, build or age, they must return to the water to maintain their health and strength. Staying above ground longer than a few days will result in a gradual loss of energy and will eventually make one very ill. They will heal quickly once they are submerged in their aquatic habitat.

They possess no magic, but are able to lure mortals (and shifters) with their enchanting voices. Not every member of the merfolk family uses this power for their own advantages, but not everyone is so honest...

sea witches

Sea witches live up to 2,000 years and share a similar physical form with the merfolk family. However, that's about as similar as they get. They are female and male. The sea witch is a magical being that can manipulate the tides, seas and even the weather! They also can manipulate their own physical appearance, able to appear very youthful despite their old age. Unlike the mermaid, the sea witch is able to withstand human form on land much longer, using the help of their magic to keep them from growing ill.

shapeshifters

Shapeshifters are not immortal and live up to 1,000 years. Shifters on the Crystal Isle generally take form of an animal that does well in a tropical climate. They are able to shift at will. They also have enchanced senses and the ability to heal at a rate much faster than the average mortal. Shifters live on land but, depending on their animal form, may be able to swim underwater as well.

They are stronger and faster than the average mortal, but are suspectible to the magic of other creatures inhabiting the isle. Careful around the mermaid's song or the sea witch's enchantment!

sea monsters

Sea monsters are grand in size and power. They live up to 1,500 years. Due to their rare existence in the world, they are limited in play. Please note the number of slots available on each one before placing a hold.

Sea Serpent (2 taken, 1 open) A monstrous creature of the sea, the serpent is a long snake of the sea. They are beastly looking creatures, with as many as six heads, each holding venomous fangs. Its blood is also poisonous. They grow to be hundreds of feet long and move quick underwater. Like other shifters, they can hold human form on land. However, after a long time on land, they will slow down and their health will begin to suffer. Water refreshes them and quickly builds heir health to normal standing.

Kraken (1 taken, 1 held) The Kraken is the largest creature in all of the Crystal Isle. It resembles a squid on a much bigger and dangerous scale. Its arms could easily reach the top of a ship's mainmast and destroy a ship with little effort. Its tentacles are strong enough to pull the flesh from bone. While it is dangerous, because of it's large size, it moves slow in the water. It is quicker on land but, aside tremendous strength, has no dangerous capabilities in human form.
